This is the Inner Rebels podcast. Hello, rebels, and welcome back to another episode of Inner Rebels. I am your host, melissa Bachknight, and today I'm doing a special solo episode dedicated to a top ic that lies at the heart of our journey the art of taking a leap. When we think about taking a leap, it's natural for fear and uncertainty to bubble up within us. Stepping into the unknown is terrifying I've done it a lot. It is terrifying, but it can also be incredibly liberating. To me, it's about breaking free from the chains of conformity and embracing our authentic selves. So this conversation, i hope, will ignite and inner fire within you, jess, and I have been talking about this conversation In fact, it just happened to come up in our interview with the wonderful guest, christine that we just had And it's something that we are navigating all the time as we continue to level up in our own businesses and lives.
Melissa Bauknight:We live in a world that often pressures us to follow a predefined path, to conform to societal norms and expectations, which is why we have the Interrebel podcast right. But deep down, we hear this call of our Interrebel, this voice that longs for something more, something beyond the ordinary. It's this voice inside of us that whispers like there's something more for you. There's something else out there that aligns with your truest self, and if you've had that voice, you know exactly what I'm talking about. That voice is something that is almost ever present in me.
Melissa Bauknight:Taking a leap is not just about making a radical change or taking a risk for the sake of it. It's about living a life that reflects our deepest desires and values. It's about mustering up that soul level courage to step into the unknown or to create your own path. Less traveled Rebels. When we take this leap, what we're doing is we're unlocking a whole world of possibilities that we never, ever, could have imagined. You are absolutely going to stumble, you are absolutely going to face obstacles, and in that process you'll discover newfound strengths and resilience within yourself. And those moments of uncertainty are the ones that help you grow the most And where you find the strength to challenge the status quo and to continue to build a life that truly is your own. But how do we do it? How do we take a leap?
Melissa Bauknight:I laugh when Justin, my human design reading and I don't even remember exactly what she said, but who I'm designed to be is basically somebody that hucks themself off of a major cliff every few years, which I've done. When I was 18 and I went to college, i lived in Ohio for 18 years and went to the same school system the entire time, and then I moved across the country to Tampa Florida to college, where I knew nobody. I ended up moving to Colorado when I was 25 and took the leap to quit my very successful job in the mortgage industry albeit it was crashing, but I moved to Colorado. I think I took like $5,000 and was like I'll figure it out when I get there. I found a roommate on Craigslist Her husband ended up being the officiant of our wedding and she's one of my best friends and I've known her now for 15 years Took a leap leaving my corporate career and it keeps going So on and so forth, and now I'm leaping almost regularly into the next highest level version of me.
Melissa Bauknight:I'm taking a leap and rebranding all of the Ripple connection to Nova, so you'll be seeing some of that and we're launching a global community for conscious, professional women to get supported and resourced in their whole entire lives. That is my next leap. So How do we I don't even know if it's silence the doubts, but give them less power and the fears, less power, that are trying to tell us to stay small and wanting us to remain status quo and to not be brave and not follow this courage. How do we do that? The number one thing that I believe that you have to do in order to not let the fear be bigger than the courage is connect with other kindred spirits are also navigating similar path. We need each other. We need to link arms. This is not meant to happen alone, and we can find the support and inspiration, also that mirror to remind you how amazing you are when you can't see it for yourself or you're starting to lose your belief.
Melissa Bauknight:It's also important to remember that taking a leap doesn't mean abandoning all of your caution. Sometimes you're dipping your toe in the water, taking really small, bite size, iterative actions, and sometimes it's a cannonball as far as shifting your life. To me, it's about calculated risks. It's about being prepared for whatever challenges that you're aware of that lie ahead and having a very soul aligned, yet flowy plan in place. We are not going to have all the answers. I always say we build the plane as we fly it and we must trust in our ability to learn and adapt as we go, because you are never going to have all the answers before you take a leap.
Melissa Bauknight:One other key ingredient to taking a leap is redefining your relationship with failure. Failure is not something to be feared. I know we hear this all the time, but it's true. It's an opportunity for information, for growth and for learning. I used to be terrified of failure. I was a four boy no student who was the captain of all the sports teams and I would do whatever it took to not quote unquote failed. I was so scared of what it meant for me that if I wasn't at the top of my game, that if I wasn't number one or in the top one to 10%, what does that mean about me? In fact, i think there was a time in my life where I said I've never actually failed. I don't even know what that feels like. That has changed since taking all these big leaps.
Melissa Bauknight:I personally needed all that information, all the insight that I've gotten through having flopped launches or I've hosted hundreds of events and more than a handful nobody showed up for. I've had major tech issues. I've had 50 people in the room for an event, for a screening of something, and not been able to get the projector to work. I have failed at conversations, i have failed at friendships. At times I feel like I've failed at my marriage, and all of these things have given me such information on, a maybe how to do it different, b that I was on the round path in the first place and see that I'm so resilient and that I believe that I can persevere through anything.
Melissa Bauknight:So as we embrace our inner rebel, together, we get to create a ripple effect that inspires other people to do the same. We have to share our stories about taking leaps, because we need this beacon, this vision holder for us to see other people who are walking on the edge, who are taking these risks that we might be afraid to take. And when we feel uncertain about whether or not to make a jump, we see other people and they give us hope, they show us what's possible and they give us permission to live life on our own terms. When we see other people having the thing, being the person doing the thing that we desire, we have permission to pursue our dreams and passions with that level of wild determination and it does feel wild. I really want you to turn inward, to trust that inner voice inside of you, the one that has been calling you forward into this higher expression of you. I want you to trust that this journey is going to not look like anybody else's. It is unique to you, and you are never alone in this pursuit.
Melissa Bauknight:Reach out to us your rebel community. We want to hear it. We want to hear what are you afraid of? What are your dreams? when somebody tells me their vision, i feel like a light bulb flips off inside of me. That has me feel so excited and I get locked in. I get locked in with you and I hold that vision as if it is already alive in the world, and so I want to invite you to connect with people who can hold your vision where it feels safe and who can guide you in a way that lets you honor yourself And remember that this is not just an act of rebellion. It's an act of self-love, it's an act of self-discovery and it's a bold declaration that you are worthy of a life that resonates with your truest self. Thank you for joining me on this solo episode of something that I am the most passionate about and I hold for you that you choose courage over fear and that, whatever you're being called towards, you find us, find your community.
Melissa Bauknight:This is what I do for a living. I guide people through taking big leaps in their life. Whether it's a big leap in a career, usually the thing that is calling you forward is I want something with more meaning, more purpose. I feel like I'm just okay, or maybe I'm making a lot of money but I don't feel fulfilled in my job. Or you're going through a major life transition. A lot of the women I coach have navigated divorce and they're really looking to reconnect with themselves and decide how they want to live their lives.
Melissa Bauknight:And I just got off of a major soapbox on my. I lead a mastermind called The Bridge and it's a small, intimate group. It's 10 or less women that are all committed to being conscious, professional women and bringing forward their professional gifts in a way that deeply honors themselves. And so we do a lot of inner work and we do a lot of outer work and kind of blend soul and strategy. But I was on the soapbox about like your leap is not going to look like anybody else's and it's never supposed to, and that it's going to take shitloads of courage and that there is the part of it where you want to have the business plan and the strategy, if that speaks to you.
Melissa Bauknight:Sometimes I can get in the way of you actually just doing the things. You will always figure out how to do it along the way, but if we wait until we have all the answers, we'll never, ever start. So start today. Start with just the calling, start with just the passion, plug into our community, find a coach, find a mentor. I literally never exist without one, and I participated in a lot of intimate masterminds. That is what's helped me deeply to continue to take these brave leads in my life. So please don't try to do it alone, but please do it All right. we love you so much. Thank you for being a part of our inner rebel community and we will see you next week.
